Governance

The Institute operates in accordance with the establishment rules of the National Central University Functional Research Center.

The Institute is composed of all members who are assistant professors (or assistant researchers) or above-employed by the center. Its operating committee implements the resolutions of the TaiPI Board meeting.

The Institute has a director, who is responsible for the daily operations of the Institute, and a station director at the Polar region, who is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and research support of the station.

本中心之運作，依工作屬性，分為五組，各組研究與工作範疇如下：

1、科學研究組：

太空與遙測：極地衛星地面接收站建置與維護，高程大氣資料蒐集與分析。大尺度冰川遷移、海冰消融等衛星觀測技術研發。
大氣：常規氣象、空氣品質、輻射通量、大氣亂流、雲與氣膠微物理、無人機等觀測技術研發。搭配衛星資料，解析極地區域長時間的氣候統計特徵。
海洋：海冰融解遙測監測及融冰機制研究、洋流熱量通量觀測、北冰洋溫室氣體暖化與融冰過程通量觀測與技術研發。
地質、地球物理：地表地質調查、地下地質分析、陸海域地球物理探勘、岩石物性化性分析、自末次冰期以來沉積構造、地表侵蝕作用、冰川消融所引致地質災害、地下地質模型建立。
近地表水文與永凍層：近地表水文觀測技術研發、地區地表水-冰-凍土-地下水交換機制、永凍層削減、近岸區域流體交互作用等觀測與調查。

2、社會經濟組：

酷暑天氣趨於頻繁、乾旱、暴雨等極端氣候對社會經濟衝擊；暖化、海平面上升國際因應策略；糧食、水、電短缺或通膨與氣候變遷關聯性。在極地區域，則專注於生態環境價值、資源價值、航道價值、人文與科學價值及戰略等議題研究。

3、公關與推廣教育組：

科普教育推廣、民眾溝通，大眾宣傳。

4、行政管理組：

專責中心與測站行政事務與觀測及調查工作協調。

5、設施後勤組：

因應中心同時有海外據點，本組負責太空與遙測、大氣、海洋、地質、地球物理與水文分析相關的海外測站設施後勤與維護工作。
